Category

Definition

A Category is used to organize and structure Function, Models, Code-Files and Value Lists. There is no technical object in the backend of the platform which means a Category has not to be updated, maintained or is limited to a specific release version. It can be created in the Portal in the menu 'Virtual Datasets' and changed anytime. The Category is the first level of organization of every Function or Model.

Additional Information

While organizing Functions and Models with Categories it is recommended to be consistent with the naming and structuring. For example if you start using capital letters only, apply this for all other Categories. Or, if Categories belong to specific departments like sales or controlling, try to keep functions separated to this categories. This helps to find defined Functions easily. In addition colors can be used to structure functions also visually.
